TERCEIRATOURS JOURNAL
Local knowledge, stories & practical advice from Terceira Island.
Travel tips, local stories, history and practical advice to help you experience the real Terceira Island.
Yes, Terceira is worth visiting, but not for the same reasons as every other island. It is a place for people who enjoy culture, landscapes, food, history and travelling at a slower pace.
Two days in Terceira go by far too quickly. For a first visit, I recommend at least three days, and preferably four or five if you want to experience the island without rushing.
Terceira has some dishes that every visitor hears about, but there is much more to the island’s food than alcatra. Here is what I would actually recommend trying.
After years of working with visitors from all over the world, I have learned one thing: Terceira is apparently not the easiest island name to pronounce. I have heard Tercera, Terciera, Terseira, Terceire, Teceiea... and probably a few others that I have forgotten along the way. No judgement. Portuguese is not exactly making things easy.
