We did the half day private tour with Ivo, and it was a fantastic experience! He told us all about the island and personally guided us through one of the caves (Gruta do Natal). Since the lagoon we were supposed to visit was under conservation maintenance, he took us to see some waterfalls instead. I would highly recommend Terceira Tours.

‘The Perfect Full Day Private Slow Tour with Ivo’
Our day out in Terceira with our guide, Ivo was a very full, informative and relaxing day. He was awaiting our arrival in the hotel foyer and whisked us away through the twisty, narrow streets of Angra in a large and comfortable vehicle. People were slowly emerging on to the streets after the late night of celebrations before, and looking forward to today’s festivities. We, however, sped through the city streets to the heights of Monte Basil where we learned about the importance of Angra in history of Portugal. A surprising visit after this was to a lovely couple on the outskirts of the city, yet worlds away in their coffee and fruit plantation. Mr Joe proudly showed us around and explained about coffee production as well as showing us so many fruits he grows. A beautiful spread provided by his wife, Filomena who has home made jams and chutneys to accompany Joe’s extensive collection of fruit liqueurs that required tasting!! I’m glad Ivo is driving. Onwards through the eastern interior to the Miradouro de Serra do Cume, before heading to Porto Judeu on south east coast, for a wonderful 3 course lunch at Restaurant Rocha with wine, including a delicious 'Alcatra' (slow cooked traditional meat stew). The ocean views were sublime.
Ivo was the perfect guide, with lots of interesting new facts, a great sense of humour, his local knowledge and cultural awareness added to our experience with him. Enjoying an impromptu aircraft spotting side trip above the airport which also houses a US military base, was really interesting and was our choice.
Continuing along the north coast Ivo told us about many local community traditions. Our next stop at the Cascata da Frecha was really special - a beautifully secluded wooded area where we enjoyed a ‘surprise' bottle of fizz to celebrate our years together! The northern coast also revealed a magnificent viewpoint - Miradouro de Alagoa where we walked with Ivo over the basalt rocks and basked in spectacular ocean and high volcanic cliff views. We'd hoped to swim in the natural pools at Biscoitis for our last stop but the sea was too rough, as well as many jellyfish (Portuguese man of war) being present. We loved our walk around the volcanic rock pools and man made walkways on the Oceanside.
Another highlight was as we began walking, a family sitting at the café waved and said Hi! It was Mr Joe, his wife and family. A lovely surprise-Ivo said if we'd have accepted their invitation to join them for a drink we would probably have been there all evening!!
It summed up our fabulous day filled with new experiences, culture, history, fabulous views and connecting with locals. All in all we loved our full day tour with Ivo who was so accommodating, friendly and chatty. Highly recommended!

We had a short hour layover (7ish am till 6ish pm) and saw so much more of Terceira than I thought possible. Ivo was fantastic. We saw the AF base, the volcanic landscape, bulls, visited the natural pools, saw deer at Monte Brasil, visited some of Europe’s only coffee trees, learned how their clay is used in traditional Azorian pottery, had lunch overlooking Ilhéus das Cabras, saw the house where the guitarist for Extreme was born, learned about the history of Praia de Vitoria, and witnessed so much more of Terceira’s charm taking the long way back to the airport. I definitely want to return to visit for a longer stretch of time. Thank you, Ivo!!

We took a tour with Ivo who was an exceptional tour guide. Your begins on the beautiful Mont Brasil with breath taking views and a military outpost still used today. A tour of the fruit and coffee plantation owned by Joe & Filomina was a true highlight. Joe has a true passion for his work and is eager to pass along his knowledge. The Zona Balnear dos Biscoitos is beautiful spot on a clear calm day for a quick swim. Outdoor shower and clean changing rooms available at this spot. Small food and souvenir shops at this spot as well.

Planned a 23 hour stopover on way back to Canada after travelling Poland and Turkey and kitesurfing in Portugal. Was looking for someone who could provide me with the flavour of the island in a half day tour. Ivo is brilliant! With his intimate knowledge and understanding of the island, he provides a wonderful experience. He is a source of detailed, local information based on his connections within the community. If you're looking for a tour guide who goes far beyond the usual highlights, Ivo is your person. He took us to fascinating spots we would never have found on our own — places that don't appear in guidebooks, hidden corners that made the day feel genuinely special.
We covered the entire island in a single day, and Ivo kept the energy high the whole time. He's incredibly sociable and enthusiastic — the kind of guide who genuinely wants to share everything he loves about this place with the people he's showing around. There was never a dull moment.

I can’t think of any better way to spend a six hour layover on Terceira Island than on a private tour with Ivo. He picked us up and returned us to the airport and showed us many breathtaking highlights of his home island. His knowledge of history, the drive through the island explaining much about the culture of the island and his friendly personality made this brief visit to Terceira Island so pleasant. The stone boundaries on the farmland and watching the cows line up to be milked was pretty unique. Of course the views of the ocean and Monte Brasil were picture perfect opportunities. We highly recommend Ivo and Terceira Tours. Thank you Ivo for the time you spent with us, including our stop for the delicious cheese tasting

OH... MY... GOD!!!
Our honeymoon was seven days on Terceira. We reserved a private two person tour with Ivo. He met us at our hotel at 10am and we drove to so many amazing sites over the next 8 hours. We started at a coffee and fruit plantation and a pottery shop. We sampled the fruits, the coffee, cascara tea and had a nice visit with the owners. In the afternoon the tour included one of the best meals of the week for lunch and finished the day with a cheese tasting.
Ivo was an warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide. It felt like we were being shown around a friends home, a home he clearly loves. It added so much richness to the sight seeing and he welcomed all of our questions.
This was a highlight of our week and SO worth it!

My daughter and I had a fabulous full day tour of the island with Terceira Tours. Ivo, our tour guide, was exceptionally accommodating, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. We saw so many beautiful vistas, visited the ocean baths, and toured a coffee/fruit farm where we had a cup of the most delicious coffee ever. We visited a family-owned cheese factory and had a tasting of the local cheeses, while watching videos of the village bull runs. We had a delightful and relaxing lunch by the ocean. We learned a lot about the local culture and history of the island. If I could give Terceira tours 10+ stars, I would. I would encourage anyone visiting the island to schedule a private tour with Terceira Tours — you won’t be disappointed.
